Life Insurance Corporation ( LIC ) of India conducted Apprentice Development Officer ( ADO ) exam previously in 2008.  For ready reference of the  candidates who are now waiting for interview call in 2010 we are providing some questions and answers of 2008 interviews.  In addition to these previously asked questions, we are also providing the probable questions those are to be faced by the aspirants in 2010.

#Q1 What do you know about Life Insurance ?
(A)      Life insurance is a contract that pledges payment of an amount to the person assured (or his nominee) on the happening of the event insured against.
The contract is valid for payment of the insured amount during:

• The date of maturity, or
• Specified dates at periodic intervals, or
• Unfortunate death, if it occurs earlier.

Among other things, the contract also provides for the payment of premium periodically to the Corporation by the policyholder. Life insurance is universally acknowledged to be an institution, which eliminates ‘risk’, substituting certainty for uncertainty and comes to the timely aid of the family in the unfortunate event of death of the breadwinner.
By and large, life insurance is civilisation’s partial solution to the problems caused by death. Life insurance, in short, is concerned with two hazards that stand across the life-path of every person:

1. That of dying prematurely leaving a dependent family to fend for itself.
2. That of living till old age without visible means of support.

#Q2  Do you explain who can buy a Policy ?
Any person who has attained majority and is eligible to enter into a valid contract can insure himself/herself and those in whom he/she has insurable interest.
Policies can also be taken, subject to certain conditions, on the life of one’s spouse or children. While underwriting proposals, certain factors such as the policyholder’s state of health, the proponent’s income and other relevant factors are considered by the Corporation.

(A)

• Spread and provide life insurance to the masses at a reasonable cost.
• Spread Life Insurance widely and in particular to the rural areas and to the socially and economically backward classes with a view to reaching all insurable persons in the country and providing them adequate financial cover against death at a reasonable cost.
• Maximize mobilization of people’s savings by making insurance-linked savings adequately attractive.
• Bear in mind, in the investment of funds, the primary obligation to its policyholders, whose money it holds in trust, without losing sight of the interest of the community as a whole; the funds to be deployed to the best advantage of the investors as well as the community as a whole, keeping in view national priorities and obligations of attractive return.
• Conduct business with utmost economy and with the full realization that the moneys belong to the policyholders.
• Act as trustees of the insured public in their individual and collective capacities.
• Meet the various life insurance needs of the community that would arise in the changing social and economic environment.
• Involve all people working in the Corporation to the best of their capability in furthering the interests of the insured public by providing efficient service with courtesy.
• Promote amongst all agents and employees of the Corporation a sense of participation, pride and job satisfaction through discharge of their duties with dedication towards achievement of Corporate Objective.

Career Prospects of Apprentice Development Officer (ADO) in Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India

Development Officer as a career is a Challenging job. It is primarily a sales supervision field job. The most attractive point in this job is freedom of working hours, performance based incentive amounts. If you perform well no one questions your working style. You will be paid not only the salary but also performance linked incentive amount. Generally this incentive amount is more than your salary amount.

The selected candidates will be required to recruit agents, train them properly, and help the recruited agents to sell life insurance to maximum number of persons. They will also be required to give after sales service to policy holders. For this purpose considerable movements including tours covering entire area allotted to them are involved.

The selected candidates will be appointed as Apprentice. They will be paid a fixed amount as stipend. At present it is Rs.12,421/- per month. After completion of apprentice period they will be appointed as Probationary Development Officers in the scale of 7440-450(2)-8340-520(2)-9380-540(17)-18560. The total emoluments in this scale is Rs.14,528/- at present. The scale of pay is under revision. So in near future it is going to enhance.

Hi, i gave interview of ADO on 27th Sept at Ahmedabad. It was simple. They asked about present job profile, why i want to join in government sector, why LIC?, what are functions of IRDA, some general awareness questions like who is the mayor of the city? regarding recent muncipal elections, then how would you make agents? what qualities a good sales person should have? how much of my savings should go to LIC.

Guys dont worry its simple. But be confident
and your answers should be bold. As I am
MCA fresher they were asking me why you want to join
LIC as you can get jobs in Software Industry and they are
stressing on this point only again and agin in
different manner. And they asked me some questions regarding
LIC as What is Insurance? Why it is needed?
What is difference between Bank Savings and Insurance Savings?
Can I make my vehicle insurance through LIC?
And some questions on Hobbies..

hey guys....today i attended interview for Lic ado...there is no requriment of filled online app form , lic person have that. Certificate related to ur academics, job (if any), and three character certificate [ two from any responsible persons and one school/college character certificate], zerox copy of every certificate with original because they r matching it at verfication table..
my interview was around 25 minute...it was gud, as i m from insurance background most of the quest were about the previous comp.

Dear frnds, my interview was on 20th and it was quite good. Firstly they asked my name, place where i come from. , then some inquiries about my past academic record, which is not too impressive.Then they asked me abt Nato, when and why it was formed, its relevance nowadays. Next they asked me abt Prasar Bharati, its Chairman. Then they asked me insurance related questions, like diff btwn life and general insurance, endowment,qualities of a salesperson, how will you go on abt ur task,r u ready to relocate, etc. they also asked me abt the no of zonal offices, the ZM, etc. on the whole the interview was good.

The community form must be exactly like "second page of interview call letter u had received" ie cleary mentioning whether u belong to noncreamy/creamy layer. Failing which not to mention, they will dispatch to 'general' category:

i2: after telling my native place, the interviewer seems to be interested in my native place. and asked detaily (like famous for or any other names etc)
i2: then he asked about GDP, full form and poverty line?
i1: I answered and then i1 interrupted and said he will ask only full forms and asked me whether I m ready?
me: said yes (enthusiastically)
i1: full forms of imf, who, hdfc, icici, iffco, and irda
i3: Finally the third interviewer who was verifying all the certicates while I was being asked by other two, asked
what is insurance, health insurance, life insurance, gpa insurance, tpa
me: answered but I could not answer tpa, said only the full form but not the def(third party administrator)
i1: thank you, goodbye
me: thank you

I m an engineer student, I expected they would ask "why insurance after engg" but no questions of such were asked. General and ur bio data details. Overall they were friendly and no need to panic.
